Arch Acres is located in west/central Indiana in Fountain County. We are mid-way between Attica and Covington near a small community, Fountain and the Portland Arch Nature Preserve. We are 6 miles south of Attica (highway 41 south) or 6 miles north of interstate 74 (Veedersburg & Attica exit) on highway 41 then 4 miles west on County Road 650 North. In general, 30 minutes west of Danville, IL or 45 minutes SW of Lafayette, In or 60 minutes N of Terre Haute, IN or 60 minutes W of Indianapolis, IN.
Our longhorn sign is at the bottom of a hill - north side of the road. You will see a log home and buildings with green metal roofs. Google "arch acres" or "1290 W 650 N Attica, IN" for directions and a map. See the map on the contact page!
We first purchased 5 longhorns in 1999. Our herd peaked at 70 longhorns. Our current herd consists of our new herd sire, WOW'S ACE, 23 cows and 11 calves so far. We are focusing on horn, body, color and disposition!
In August 2015 we purchased an outstanding, flashy, beefy black & white bull with 80+ inches of tip to tip horn from Ron Jones "SHR Wow's Ace". All we can say is "WOW!" He is a proven producer. Excited for calves to arrive in July/August . Great genetics, size, color, and gentle!
In September/October 2015 we added 7 cows- mainly black & white, but many already bred to other outstanding bulls. In November 2015 we updated our sign on 41 south of Attica featuring Wow's Ace. In April 2016 we added a BLACK KETTLE daughter, called HOT KETTLE, a real standout 2 year old bred to DELTA LUCKY ACE. We next added a FOX CHEX's daughter, HL FOXY DOTTY II bred to MONEY in the BANK. She is also a standout in the pasture. Adding up and coming bloodlines!
In the spring/fall of 2016 we expect 10 Tempting Times calves, 6 Aces calves, 2 HL Lincoln calves, 1 calf by Cash Flow and a few more. This should give the new breeder more possibilities for a starter package. So far we have 11 calves (3 heifers and 8 bull calves). More to come.
Arch Acres' goal is to promote the breed of longhorns. We raise and sell pasture pets, show quality animals, breeding stock, steers and ropers when available. Many new breeders begin with two or three young longhorns.
We are lifetime members of both the TLBAA (Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America) and ITLA (International Texas Longhorn Association. We are founding members of the Midwest Texas Longhorn Association (an affiliate of ITLA) based in Indiana founded in 2010 which is where many new breeders join to learn and share ideas. MTLA holds one show every year. This year's show is June 11th, 2016 in Princeton, IN.
If you have an interest in our longhorns, please e-mail Jim Small at email@example.com or call Jim's cell (765-299-6392). If you are ever in the area, give us a call. Come visit !!!
